据博雅地名网，1958年，建立塘贝大队，到1983年12月，改设为塘贝乡，到1987年1月，改名塘贝村民委员会，此名沿用到现在。[1]

据博雅地名网，村后的山形似卧牛，山岗周围有好几个山塘，像牛吃饱草后卧在塘边歇息，「贝」与「背」谐音，故称塘贝。[1]

荣誉与名单

  • 2021年12月，塘贝村获「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号（广东省爱卫会）。[1]
  • 2023年8月，塘贝村获评「2022年度“广州市美丽乡村”」称号。[1]
