据博雅地名网，1958年建立水西大队，到1983年12月改设为水西乡，到1987年1月改名水西村民委员会，此名沿用到现在。[1]

荣誉与名单

  • 2019年9月，水西村列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
  • 2023年5月，水西村获「2022年广东省卫生村」称号（广东省爱卫会）。[1]
  • 2024年11月，水西村被认定为「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」。[1]

村里的农业格局为：水田种水稻、花生，鱼塘里养四大家鱼、塘基上养瘦肉型猪。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

从化区人民政府于2015年发布的文化遗产普查推荐名单（历史建筑与传统风貌建筑线索）中，列有本村的北闸李氏宗祠、春盛公祠、南闸门楼、中闸李氏民居群、中闸门楼，共5处。名单所列只是普查线索，不等于已定级的文物。[2]
