历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，1958年建立大队时，岭南一带分属大新、古塘两个大队；1983年12月撤销公社、设立区公所，两个大队合成岭南乡；1987年1月分设，称岭南村民委员会，沿用至今。^[1]

村里的农业格局为：水田种水稻、花生，鱼塘里养四大家鱼、塘基上养瘦肉型猪。^[1] 村集体经济方面，村集体增收靠引进的龙丰原食品厂项目。^[1]

从化区人民政府于2015年发布的文化遗产普查推荐名单（历史建筑与传统风貌建筑线索）中，列有本村的步美村传统民居群、古塘民居群、古塘云洞张公祠，共3处。名单所列只是普查线索，不等于已定级的文物。^[2]
