地理环境[edit]
村东有海拔218米的连坑尾山，半山腰有一块名为“磨盘芯”的石头，相传不孕的妇女登山摸石便可怀孕。村庄建在山的西南面，村域面积6.17平方千米。[1]
经济[edit]
2008年全村有317户、985人，水田面积714亩、旱地面积13亩、咸围面积931亩、山林面积3258亩、鱼塘面积19亩。[1]
1980年开发咸围面积400亩发包经营，壮大集体经济；此外，元山小学于1984年重建，村道水泥路和自来水在1986年修成，1988年有了元山影剧院，村委会办公楼则落成于2001年。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据村里的记载，明正德年间（1506至1521年），吴姓先祖从南雄迁来。1957年村属台山县小江乡；1958年因便于耕作划归恩平，编为横陂公社的元山生产大队；1972年洪滘公社从横陂公社分出，村随之改属。之后依次为元山乡（1984年）、元山村民委员会（1986年）、元山管理区（1989年）；1998年10月，恩平市政府批准定名元山村民委员会。[1]
2019年9月，该村名列「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」；2026年3月，被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
2024年江门市政府网站的报道提到，横陂镇计划为蓝田村、元山村引入民宿项目，配合镇海湾红树林开发滨海旅游线路。[2]
