马东村是杏坛镇南部的行政村，距镇中心城区约6公里，南面是西江河马宁水道，占地3.23平方千米，15个村民小组，户籍人口3211人[1]。因位于东马宁诸村的东部得名[1]。2016年12月列入第四批中国传统村落名录[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网转录的资料，随后1950年称东马宁南乡，其后1952年与南北两乡合并为东马宁乡，之后1958年称马宁大队，再后1959年南北分开，称马东大队，接着1963年并入马宁，随后1976年再分出，其后1999年改称马东村委会[1]。
文化[edit]
2016年12月，马东村列入第四批中国传统村落名录；之后2024年8月列入「佛山市“百千万工程”第二批典型镇村」，再后2026年1月获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」[1]。
名胜古迹[edit]
马东何氏家庙在马东小学一侧，始建于明代，清道光七年（1827年）和2001年重修，三间三进[1]。
