马齐社区位于杏坛镇中心区东南，占地1.38平方千米，下设9个居民小组，户籍人口2585人[1]。南宋时王姓先开村，称摄村，后马、齐两姓迁入成大族，村名改为马齐[1]。社区内有马齐陈氏大宗祠、东庄陈公祠等祠堂[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网转录的资料，南宋时王姓人在此立村，名摄村，又称利摄；其后马姓、齐姓人迁入，成为大族，村名便取两姓而作马齐[1]。新中国成立之初，马齐隶属顺德县第八区龙渚乡，其间几经改隶；再后1956年4月属齐杏区杏坛乡；接着1958年12月划归番顺县杏坛人民公社，为马齐生产大队；随后1983年11月称马齐乡，其后1987年2月属杏坛镇；之后2001年经批准设立马齐社区居民委员会[1]。2019年9月，社区进入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单[1]。
名胜古迹[edit]
马齐陈氏大宗祠址在关东大街59号，落成于万历二十八年（明，再后1600年），后在同治十年（1871年）和2004年两度重修[1]。东庄陈公祠在关东大街41号，明万历年间为祭祀陈姓八世祖而建[1]。陈永思堂水步在马齐大涌边，清道光二十七年（1847年）重建，麻石平台前设台阶供上下船，石匾刻“陈永思堂水步”，是当年的水上码头[2]。
