杏坛社区是杏坛镇中心城区的社区，占地约2平方千米，下设10个村小组，户籍人口3425人[1]。村名取“孔子居杏坛”之典[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，南宋期间由夏、谭两姓开村；因当地读书人多，取古语「孔子居杏坛，贤人七十，弟子三千」中的“杏坛”二字为名，既谐夏谭之音，又以礼乐之乡自许[1]。1956年称杏坛村，其后1958年成立杏坛大队，之后1983年称乡，再后1987年称村，接着2000年成立杏坛村民委员会，随后2001年11月8日改名杏坛社区居委会[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

杏坛苏氏大宗祠在杏坛大街，为明代建筑（约1500年），清代重修；进深三进，总进深29.38米，面阔15.25米；屋顶为硬山，青砖木构，石脚用红砂岩，被称为反映明代顺德祠堂特色的实物[2]。
