历史沿革[edit]
地名由来有两说：据博雅地名网，立村时村边遍植柳树，初称柳边村，后因子孙繁衍而改作刘边。[1] 相传元顺帝在位期间（1333—1367年），刘万才兄弟五人自南雄珠玑巷南迁，刘万才在大榄涡南面河滩搭寮定居。[1]
行政建制上，1981年称刘边村，1983年改刘边乡，1987年设刘边村民委员会，1989年改刘边管理区，1999年恢复村委会，2005年并入狮山镇。[1]
