历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网所载沿革，明永乐年间（1402年至1424年），祖先到此搭寮定居，起名东寮村，聚落独姓吴，叫东寮吴村；1949年改称东星村；此后名称几经更替，先后称大队、乡、村委会、管理区，1999年起沿用现名。[1]概况一页则说，公元1487年村民从金灶镇金沟村迁到东寮定居，两处所记年代不同。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
该页所载，全村574户、3350人，耕地465.64亩，山地708亩；有企业18家、小作坊66家，多为针织内衣加工。[2]1992年，旅泰侨胞吴生成投资120多万元兴建东星小学。[2]
东星村在2020年至2022年连续列入淘宝村名单；2019年9月列入「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位（2018年度）名单；2023年5月获「广东省卫生村」称号（2022年度）。[1]
