桥头村位于前詹镇东北部，离镇址约2.5公里，是一个纯农的村庄，以种植水稻、甘薯和花生为主要收入来源。[1]

村前原有一条大溪，往来不便，后在溪上建成一座长23米的石桥，村庄因此得名「桥头」。[1]

元至顺二年（1331年），谢氏由揭东县炮台镇与桃山都迁来，在此建村。1958年成立桥头大队，1987年设立桥头管理区，1999年改为桥头村委会。2019年9月，桥头村被列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
