竹园村是文祠镇下辖的行政村，由竹园、宫前、大东垭3个自然村组成，主村竹园以竹多得名，村中以张姓为主。[1]

村史[edit]

主村竹园的张姓先辈张仲信，明嘉靖十四年（1535年）自福建兴化迁入。宫前为陈姓，大东垭为巫姓。1958年以主村名称设竹园大队，1999年起改设竹园村村民委员会。[1]

产业与荣誉[edit]

村里盛产橄榄与茶叶，农业以竹木、橄榄、茶叶为主。耕地121亩，山地10610亩；2005年的统计为753人，分属193户。2020年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予「2020年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
