银潭村是文祠镇下辖的行政村，创于明代，村中有黄、郭、张、魏、杨5姓，主姓为黄。早年村名为“饶韵潭”。^[1]

村史[edit]

黄姓主姓一支的先辈为饶氏女子，由饶平道韵迁入，村因此早年称饶韵潭，以纪念饶氏的迁来。村前有深潭承接北来之水，“银潭”之名据载含有水流如银、弱水归潭的寓意。^[1]

1961年划归文祠公社管辖，其间拆出为沙塘大队；1978年独立为一个大队，名为银潭；此后又称银潭管理区，直至1999年设为村民委员会。^[1]

山地2157亩，耕地341亩；2005年统计为206户、840人。主要收入来自水果、茶叶和竹木。2020年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予「2020年广东省卫生村」称号。^[1]
