桥头镇是广东省清远市英德市下辖的镇，位于英德市东部，距市县城约51千米，因小溪上一座石桥而得名。^[1]^[2]

镇政府驻桥头墟。全镇现辖1个社区和10个行政村，2023年统计有130个自然村，村（居）民小组共235个。^[4]^[5]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，桥头镇建制于明洪武二年（1369年）。镇内原有潭坑墟，因税捐繁重，当地乡绅在今镇址上修建「六甲祠」作墟场，赴墟者渐多，遂在小溪上建石桥，墟场位于桥东，地名由此而来，潭坑老街随之湮没。^[2]

光绪十二年（1886年），英德县总局在此设溪头、板甫、潭坑、五石四处分局。民国时期，这一带分属英德县第三区的溪板、新兴两乡。1949年以后，先后归英德县第三区、第十三区管辖，1957年并入英东工作委员会。^[3]

1958年9月转属翁源县，建翁江人民公社；1959年11月回归英德县，设桥头人民公社。此后，1983年7月改为区，1987年4月改为镇；博雅地名网另记同年7月又有一次改称区的记录，未注明缘由。^[3]

地理环境[edit]

桥头镇属丘陵山区，辖区面积约148.6平方千米，据博雅地名网；2025年《英德市桥头镇村庄规划管理通则》批后公告所列规划总面积为145.55平方千米，统计口径不同。^[1]^[7]

翁江穿镇而过，水力资源较丰富。森林覆盖率98%，耕地约3.74万亩，年均气温21摄氏度，年降水量1900毫米，见博雅地名网概况页。^[2]

2022年，镇内遭遇洪涝灾害，组织转移群众718人；同年新冠疫苗接种累计达约7.17万剂次。^[6]

2023年绿美生态建设中，森林抚育完成2200亩，低效林改造完成1360亩。^[5]

1998年底，全镇总人口为29688人，民族为汉族；农业人口27044人，约占九成一，非农业人口2644人。华侨及港澳台同胞则有100余人。^[2]

据镇政府2023年工作总结，桥头镇污水处理厂已建成并进入运营阶段。老旧镇区改造工程核定总投资16972万元，分两期推进，首期投资已达10000万元。^[5]

村内道路硬底化里程达247.39公里，另设垃圾收集点315处。^[6]

2023年上半年，早稻实际种植12959亩，为任务数的112.6%；下半年晚稻种植14449亩。全镇惠农保险投保2772户，涉及种植面积14331.08亩。^[5]

2022年，红火蚁防治安排资金20.074万元，防控任务已经完成。汕昆连接线一期工程于2023年已全面完工。^[5]^[6]

镇政府向乡村振兴部门申报2024年乡村振兴项目17个，申请驻镇帮镇扶村资金1794.8万元。^[5]

其中，73个自然村已达到美丽宜居村标准并经清远市验收；另有128处自然村获得英德市「干净整洁村」认定。^[5]

文化[edit]

2023年的广东省教育强镇第二次复评，桥头镇接受了验收。创强期间累计投入达928.5万元，资金主要投向学校设备和教学楼，镇中心小学与中心幼儿园均在其内。镇中心小学改扩建的教学楼已完工，待验收。^[5]

镇内建有红色教育基地，占地约20余亩。基地内设红色雕塑及构造物5座、宣传栏10块，另有1000米长的休闲绿道和300米长的红色文化长廊。^[5]
