太阳村在平远县东石圩以东约6公里，属东石镇，辖16个村民小组，登记540户、2062人，总面积18.3平方公里，耕地约3041亩。[1]

地名由来[edit]

新中国成立初期，杨梅坑一带群众成立农民协会，取名“太阳村农会”，寓意翻身得解放；杨梅坑、中心坑、扁坑三个自然村并为一个农会，村名就此确定。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年设太阳乡，1958年为太阳大队，1983年改称小乡，1987年成立村民委员会，1989年设管理区，1999年改设村民委员会；2005年，原锅叾村委会撤销，并入太阳村。[1]

经济[edit]

村里种水稻、茶叶、油茶、沙田柚和生姜，锅叾茶年产5万斤，长窝金柚年产60万斤；老区锅叾一带12公里村道已硬化。[1] 2020年8月，太阳村（锅叾茶）名列「首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，太阳村名列「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」。[1]
