麻塘村属平远县东石镇，在东石圩东北约3公里处，辖10个村民小组，登记356户、1345人；村域面积4.44平方公里，耕地约1507亩。[1]
地名由来[edit]
据传，此地过去干旱，耕地多是旱地，村民靠种麻出售换粮度日，故称麻塘。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年设麻塘乡，此后数十年间（约自1961年起）是麻塘大队；1983年并入石北，同为一个小乡，1987年设村民委员会，1989年改设管理区，1999年又设村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
种有水稻、花生、黄豆；主村道6公里已水泥硬化，村内有铁矿场、瓷土矿场各1处。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，麻塘村名列「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」。[1]
