茅坪村在东石圩东南约8公里，是平远县东石镇的行政村，辖12个村民小组，登记597户、2293人；总面积11.1平方公里，耕地约1556亩。[1]
地名由来[edit]
据传，早先来此开基的人艰苦创业，搭茅草屋居住，又因地势平坦，叫作“茅寮坪”，后来简称茅坪。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年设茅坪乡，1958年改作茅坪大队，1983年改称小乡，1987年成立村民委员会，1989年改设管理区，1999年重设村民委员会。2003年9月，原茅坪镇并入东石镇。[1][2]
经济[edit]
农作物有水稻、沙田柚和椪柑，椪柑种植约200亩，境内有耐火石场2处，环村主村道7公里。[1] 2020年8月，茅坪村（花生）名列「首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」。[1]
