历史沿革[edit]

村四面高山环抱，当中有一条小溪，因这一地形，以竹坑为名；据村史，张氏先迁到光上开居，后来别姓族人陆续迁入黄竹坑一带。[1]

1949年前后，这里叫竹坑乡。其后建制屡变：1958年立大队，1983年又称乡政府，1989年设管理区，至1999年才定为村民委员会。[1]

村里主要种植水稻、桃驳果等。据博雅地名网，村里一年的经济总收入约1640万元（所指年份未注明）。[1]
