竹坑村是棉洋镇下属的行政村，属广东省五华县（梅州市），在镇域南端。[1]据博雅地名网所载数据（未注年份），全村分28个村民小组，登记929户、4418人，面积3.5平方千米，耕地3071亩。[1]

历史沿革[edit]
村四面高山环抱，当中有一条小溪，因这一地形，以竹坑为名；据村史，张氏先迁到光上开居，后来别姓族人陆续迁入黄竹坑一带。[1]
1949年前后，这里叫竹坑乡。其后建制屡变：1958年立大队，1983年又称乡政府，1989年设管理区，至1999年才定为村民委员会。[1]
