群益村在城北镇北部，设11个村民小组，总面积10.5平方公里，属梅州市梅江区城北镇下辖的行政村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名来由是历史上这里有一所群益小学。[1]

1949年设群益乡，隶属城北区；1956年撤区并乡，归城西乡。1958年改设群益大队，属卫星人民公社（后称梅城人民公社）；1960年城北人民公社从梅城人民公社分设，该村随之改属。1983年设群益乡，归城北区管辖；1987年改为村民委员会，隶属城北乡；1989年称群益管理区；1998年定名为群益村村民委员会，隶属城北镇。[1]

经济[edit]

村情资料载，全村有340户、1373人，耕地1608亩，种水稻，另产枇杷和脐橙（原文作「脐膯」），后两者是特色收入；所记上一年农村经济总收入1370万元（年份未注明）。村里逐步解决行路、灌溉、饮水和通讯方面的困难。[1]
