历史沿革[edit]
村落始建于明代中期，原称小浊水。据村情资料，此地旧时山光地瘠，一遇下雨，农田被洪水冲刷，水色浑浊，故名浊水；新中国成立后植树造林，荒山变绿，水也变清，遂改名玉水。[1][2]
1949年设玉水乡，隶属城北区；1956年撤区并乡，归城西乡。1958年改设玉水大队，属卫星人民公社（后称梅城人民公社），1960年改属新设的城北人民公社。1983年设玉水乡；1987年改为村民委员会，隶属城北乡；1989年称玉水管理区；1998年定名为玉水村民委员会，隶属城北镇。[1]
地理环境[edit]
玉水村在松柏寨（海拔500米）下的山间谷地，黄姜溪流经全境，村内有河猪笼、黄沙坑两座小水库。村落距镇政府约15千米。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
玉水村保存有围龙屋7座，形制包括杠式楼、方围楼等客家民居；代表性建筑有崇善堂（1907年）、竹园堂（1892年），另有「源开壁水」匾额和木雕。村西存有逾400年历史的盐商古道卵石路面和古当铺遗址。明清时期，这里是粤赣商贸运输的必经之地，现存古驿站遗迹。[2]
2012年，玉水村获评广东省古村落；2013年8月列入第二批中国传统村落名录。[1][2]
经济[edit]
村情资料载，全村总面积8.4平方公里，耕地701亩，种水稻和三华李，李子是特色收入；所记上一年农村经济总收入893万元（年份未注明）。村里还发展栗、柿、药材的立体种植，并获市生态村称号。[1]百度百科称传统经济以水稻、金柚为主，兼营「四大家鱼」养殖。[2]
人口民族[edit]
百度百科记载，村里2015年末有户籍人口663人，旅居海外的华人华侨多在法属留尼旺岛及东南亚各地。[2]
