沙田镇是广东省惠州市惠阳区下辖的镇，位于惠阳区东南部，辖1个社区居委会和8个村委会^[1]^[2]。镇名来自沙田公社，公社又因社址靠近沙田水库而得名；20世纪40年代以前这一带称隔水洞^[1]。2020年第七次全国人口普查时，全镇人口3.69万人，在惠阳区各街道乡镇中居第7位^[1]。镇内有金桔市级自然保护区和世外梅园，金桔村出产桔塱茶^[3]^[5]^[6]。

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，1951年这一带属惠阳县第六区；1958年并入淡水人民公社；1961年划小公社时，因社址靠近沙田水库而定名沙田人民公社，此后几经分合，沙田之名一直沿用^[1]。此后体制数次改动：先是1983年撤销公社、改设区，1986年冬区又改为乡，到1988年定为镇^[1]。

镇下各村的沿革资料则说，1977年至1978年分设公社时，花塘、集成、肖屋、田头、鹤山、东明等村才划归沙田公社管辖，东澳村在沙田公社成立的1978年先并入东明大队，1981年后才分出^[7]。两种说法的年份不同，应是前者记的是公社最初定名的时间，后者记的是各村大队划入的时间，本条目并列写出，不作取舍。

沙田水库始建于1959年8月，1962年7月建成使用^[4]。

沙田镇位于惠阳区东南部，是惠阳通往东面的出口，地处环大亚湾新区的中心位置^[2]。镇境南邻大亚湾畔的霞涌，北有沙田水库^[8]。该水库在金桔村境内，位于淡水河上游（淡水河是东江的二级支流），集雨面积26.8平方千米，总库容2196万立方米，以灌溉为主，兼有防洪和供水的作用^[4]。平龙公路（国道G228）、深汕高速公路和厦深高铁穿过镇区^[2]。

博雅地名网转载的镇情介绍称，户籍人口约1.5万，常住人口约3万^[2]。另据2020年的第七次全国人口普查，全镇有3.69万人^[1]。维基百科则记常住人口1.2万人，另有外来人口近2万人^[9]。

镇情介绍中，镇的发展方向是「两区一镇」，即一个新型城镇化的示范区、一个绿色循环经济的示范园区，外加一座以山地休闲为主题的旅游小镇；全镇按地域划为五块，东面是工业区，南面是金桔生态区，西面是温泉休闲区，北面是农业示范区，中部是行政中心^[2]。镇情介绍列出的2016年数字是：地区生产总值14.35亿元，同比增长12.7%，进出口总额14.77亿元，工商税收2.47亿元^[2]。

农产品方面，金桔村种有柑桔、荔枝、龙眼和茶叶，桔塱茶是近年重点发展的特色产品^[8]。

惠州市惠阳金桔市级自然保护区在沙田镇境内，类型为森林生态与野生动物，保护的对象有南亚热带的常绿阔叶林、水源涵养林和珍稀动物；保护区共2221.5公顷，分核心区、缓冲区和实验区三部分^[6]。世外梅园在金桔村，景区处于保护区内，面积13000余亩，景区内记录有731种维管束植物，冬季可见鸟类38种^[3]。
