兴湖社区在惠州市惠城区汝湖镇的镇中心区，由镇政府所在的圩镇居民组成，城乡分类属镇中心区。[1]

社区的名称取「兴旺汝湖」之意，2002年经居民代表商议后定下。[1]

圩镇居委会设于1996年，到2002年才更名为兴湖居委会。[1]

2019年9月，列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
