大垌村在茂名市高州市的镇江镇境内，是该镇的一个村民委员会。相传本村始祖是从福建逃荒而来的人，初到时此地是荒山密林，难以谋生，后来发现村西有一大片垌（田洞），便迁来定居，村名由此而得。[1]

据博雅地名网所载沿革，该村1961年起称大垌大队，1983年设大垌乡，1986年又称大垌农村管理区，至1999年组建村民委员会，名称延用到现在。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年10月进入广东省卫生村名录；被列为广东省2018年度民主法治示范村（社区）的创建对象（2019年9月公布）。[1]
