坡头镇在广东省湛江市坡头区中部，镇政府设在坡头圩。据博雅地名网，镇名取自所处之地在坡的前端。全镇面积约73.3平方千米，第七次全国人口普查时有常住人口约6.29万，在坡头区各街道、乡镇中居第三位；下辖1个社区、11个行政村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清两代，这一带属吴川县南二都。1899年，清政府与法国订立《广州湾租界条约》，境域随之成为法国租借地。1949年10月湛江解放后归湛江市滨海区；1951年划回吴川县，称第八区。[2]

1958年1月设坡头乡，同年9月组建红旗公社，10月划入湛江市郊区，改称坡头公社。1961年6月公社撤销，改置坡头区，辖坡头、五合、麻东、高山、乾塘5个小公社；到1963年2月，乾塘公社分出，另外4个合为一个坡头公社。1983年6月改设区公所，1984年10月坡头区建立后归其管辖，1987年9月区公所撤销，设立坡头镇。[2]

博雅地名网另一段介绍写道，坡头镇是广东省工业卫星镇，距区政府约6千米，广湛公路经过镇境，当时辖12个村委会，包括五里、岭下、麻养、塘属等，今日行政区划中已无这几个名称，现为1个社区、11个村。[1]

同一介绍称，镇内曾有乡镇企业740家，以建材、塑料、包装、纺织、食品加工、日用化工为主；农业主产水稻、番薯、花生、甘蔗和蔬菜。[1]

2014年7月，住房城乡建设部等七部委把坡头镇列入全国重点镇。2023年11月，坡头镇入选广东省“百千万工程”首批典型县镇村。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

广州湾法国公使署总公署坡头旧址在镇政府大院内，被博雅地名网称为广东省文物保护单位。据该网介绍，1900年法方先在麻斜设广州湾行政首府，1902年迁到坡头并建成公使署大楼；1912年首府再迁湛江霞山，坡头的公使署成为分支机构，由一名行政委员与营盘官合署办公，直到1945年中国收回广州湾。大楼为两层，坐东向西，混凝土结构，占地1500平方米，平面呈Z字形，主楼两端各连一幢副楼，主楼门口留有一只铜制信箱，刻有法文和中文的“中国坡头11号信箱”。[3]

许氏大、小宗祠在博立村大宗岭，两祠并排，坐北朝南，大宗祠面宽15.15米、进深45米，小宗祠面宽14.4米、进深45米，总占地约6000平方米，建筑面积1329.6平方米。1944年，中共吴川党组织派人以学武为名到博立功夫馆，同革命人士李侠雄联系，在这两座祠堂设立联络站，先后接待、掩护了杨子儒、李时清等多位革命人员。祠内设有烈士许华秋、许真轩事迹陈列室。[4]

著名人物[edit]

许爱周（1881年至1966年）生于博立村，字国仁，民国时期的船运商人。他早年随父经商，开设“福泰号”经营花生油等杂货，20世纪20年代填海造地，兴建酒店商铺；抗日战争期间借法国的中立地位购入外国轮船，航线远及东南亚。1952年在香港注册顺昌航业公司，1957年与人合办中建企业公司。[5]

其三子许世勋（1921年至2018年）为香港企业家，曾任中建企业主席及汇丰银行副主席，1966年父亲去世后主管家族地产业务。[6]
