地名由来[edit]

由原沙冈乡分出设立，含重新建设新农村之意，故名开庄。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代归登名都，民国时期属第九区沙冈乡，新中国成立后属七区，1955年属水口区。1961年属沙冈公社，称开庄大队，1963年划归水口公社。1984年属水口区，称开庄乡人民政府，1989年称开庄管理区；1993年属沙冈区，2005年起归水口镇管辖，村级组织自1999年起称开庄村。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，开庄村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
