地名由来[edit]
辖内主要村庄是流津美村，村名取新的美丽村庄之意。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代归登名都，民国时期属第九区沙冈乡，新中国成立后属七区，1955年属水口区。1961年属沙冈公社，1963年属水口公社，称新美大队。1984年改称新美乡人民政府，1989年称新美管理区；1993年随沙冈区另置，2005年起归水口镇管辖，村级组织自1999年起称新美村民委员会。[1]
交通[edit]
2019年6月20日通车的金山大桥横跨潭江，连接三埠街道的石海和水口的新美，是主塔高120米的独塔斜拉桥，全长1512米。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2021年12月，新美村获广东省爱卫会授予「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
