此地背靠山、面临水，常有水鸟栖息，取名海燕，含吉祥之意。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代归登名都，民国时期属第十区龙塘乡，新中国成立后属八区。1963年属水口公社，称海燕大队。1984年改称海燕乡人民政府，1989年称海燕管理区；1993年随沙冈区另置，2005年起归水口镇管辖，村级组织自1999年起称海燕村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
开平市国际卫浴创新基地规划总面积3320亩，选址在水口镇海燕片区，处于开阳高速月山互通的连接线两旁，一期工程2022年5月动工。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，海燕村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
