雁园社区位于杏坛镇中心城区，占地1.1平方千米，下设10个居民小组，户籍人口2665人[1]。村内曾有一块常有大雁栖息的田，故名雁园，旧称摄村，别名雁元[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网转录的资料，村中有一块大雁田，许多大雁在此栖息，因而得名雁园；曾用名摄村，别名雁元[1]。1950年属龙渚乡，随后1958年属马齐大队，其后1959年成立雁园大队，之后1963年归并马齐大队，再后1976年复称雁园大队；接着1983年称乡，随后1987年称村，其后1989年改称管理区，之后2001年改为居委会[1]。2019年9月，社区进入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单[1]。
