银北村是汕头市澄海区溪南镇面积最大、人口最多的村，初名大沙头，旧称银砂乡，在澄海城区东北约11公里。[3][4] 元至正年间，福建诏安人陈恪斋携四子避乱迁到潮州海阳县苏湾都的大沙头，长子陈潭沙一支分衍而成数个自然村，村民多为陈姓。[1][3]
历史沿革[edit]
清乾隆元年（1736年），举人陈玉华取银岗宫的「银」字和潭沙公祠的「沙」字，定村名银砂。[3] 因村在银砂之北，改称银北：博雅地名网历史沿革写作1953年析银砂为银北、银南二乡，百度百科则写作1959年改称银北，两说不同。[2][3] 银北最初隶海阳县苏湾都，成化十三年（1477年）改隶饶平县，到嘉靖四十二年（1563年）澄海置县时才改隶澄海县。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
村有耕地约4300亩，2010年人口8751人、2071户，分12个村民小组。[3][4] 银东工业区在银北的小区占地780多亩，当时有6家中小企业投产；2006年被评为汕头市「生态示范村」和澄海区「文明村」。[4]

百度百科列出村中有陈氏家庙、银砂国王庙和八闽文宗坊。[3]
著名人物[edit]
陈汉英（1903年至1950年），银北村人，民国时期曾任国民革命军补充团营长。[5]
