外蚁村是汕头市澄海区溪南镇的行政村，在324国道东侧约1公里，分布在陇都大排渠两侧，面积约0.6平方千米。[1][3] 明成化元年（1465年），部分蚁姓人从上岱美村迁来立村；村在大沙陇面海的一侧，称「外」，初创时多为蚁姓，故名外蚁。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
外蚁最初隶海阳县苏湾都，成化十三年（1477年）改隶饶平县，到嘉靖四十二年（1563年）澄海置县时才改隶澄海县。[2] 1921年撤都设区，属银砂乡；1953年同弓兜、内厝、口厝四村组成银南乡；1959年单独成立生产大队；百度百科称1998年确立现行建制。[2][3]
人口与经济[edit]
博雅地名网所录村情写作793户、3139人，耕地1821亩，经济以农业为主，村里有1所小学。[1] 2018年外蚁村列入广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]
