仙市村是汕头市澄海区溪南镇的行政村，在韩江下游南岸，与东里镇隔河相望。[1][3] 村西倚凤冠山，东临港湾，过去船只常在此停泊，村民设市交易，初称「新市」，民间叫「亲市」，因凤冠山又称仙山，定名仙市。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋大观年间（1107年至1110年）已有人定居，元末明初江、陈等姓陆续迁入；村子起初分作三个小村，后来合为一村。[2] 仙市最初隶海阳县苏湾都，成化十三年（1477年）改隶饶平县，到嘉靖四十二年（1563年）澄海置县时才改隶澄海县。[2] 1946年仙市与南砂、南畔洲、明德四处合为南砂乡；1953年改同塘陇、仙门、梅浦组成塘陇乡；1984年仙市、大新合设仙市乡，1986年11月大新析出，设仙市村，1998年9月起沿用至今。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

博雅地名网所录村情写作全村约2600人，耕地1670亩，其中工业用地超过200亩，养殖用地超过300亩。[3] 2009年村里把荒废多年的原养鳗池变更为建设用地出让给村民，所得地价款达1000多万元，还清了300多万元的集体负债。[3] 百度百科记载，村域面积1平方千米，户籍人口2710人；该书写作村靠「凤背山」，而地名资料作「凤冠山」。[4]

文化[edit]

村里于2004年改建了一幢三层的教学楼，可容纳300多名学生；2008年又设立奖教奖学基金会，基金已有20万元以上。[3]
