梅洲村是汕头市澄海区溪南镇的行政村，在澄海城区以北约11公里，南倚南峙山，北临韩江支流南溪。^[1] 村民说它创于北宋，距今已有千年；村名出自最初立村的海滩洲形如一朵倒置的梅花。^[1]^[3]

历史沿革[edit]

据地名资料，北宋开宝三年（970年）已有人居住在东面的山上，天圣三年（1025年）又迁到山下的海滩洲上，因滩洲的轮廓像倒置的梅花、旁边一条沟坑像梅枝，得名梅洲。^[3] 梅洲最初隶海阳县苏湾都，成化十三年（1477年）改隶饶平县，到嘉靖四十二年（1563年）澄海置县时才改隶澄海县。^[2]

1932年称梅洲乡，属第五区；1946年与董坑、仙门、塘陇并为水南乡；1953年梅洲与董坑合称梅洲乡；1956年与埭头、塘陇合称塘陇乡，次年再与岱美乡并入水东乡。^[2] 1959年设梅洲生产大队，1984年设乡，1986年11月设梅洲村，1998年9月起沿用至今。^[2]

村里近3000人，以林、江、宋三姓为主，耕地约1100亩，山地约900亩，以种植业为主。^[1] 村中的革命烈士江秀卿是本村人，村庄被省确认为「解放战争游击根据地村庄」。^[1] 博雅地名网的该村页面把村名写作「梅州村」，而区划数据与村名由来一栏作「梅洲」。^[1]^[3]
