口厝村是汕头市澄海区溪南镇西南面的行政村，距澄海城区约12公里，南临南海，东与外蚁村相邻，北隔弓兜村。[1] 明万历三十三年（1605年），黄姓人取草结庐在此定居，初称「草厝」；又因村在大沙头南端靠海的一侧，当地方言常把「外」说成「口」，且「草」「口」潮音相近，改称口厝，以别于外蚁、内厝。[1][3]
历史沿革[edit]
口厝原属澄海县苏湾都。1921年撤都设区，属银砂乡；1953年银砂乡分为银北、银南二乡，口厝与弓兜、内厝、外蚁合称银南乡；1959年银南乡析为4个生产大队；1984年1月，口厝与弓兜设银西乡。[2]
