沟内村是汕头市澄海区莲下镇中部的行政村，莲东路东侧。南宋末年（约1275年）已有人定居，因村子西北有一条大沟而得名。[1][2]北边原有港咀村，民国后期并入。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

先后属渡亭乡、八联乡、溪联乡、潮港乡等，1958年编为110团；1984年同陈厝洲、新寮三村合成建新乡，1987年后各自设村。[2]

人口姓氏[edit]

村域0.3平方千米，耕地274亩。2009年底214户1000人，有林、黄、郑、简4姓，林为主姓，来自揭阳。[2]

经济[edit]

1972年以后捕鱼和家庭手工业渐兴，捕鱼最盛时有小机船和竹排20多只；1984年全村近九成人家加工塑料雨衣。2000年辟沟内工业区，现企业以塑料玩具为主。[2]

文化教育[edit]

1958年办沟内小学，1998年建成新校舍；2003年并入上村小学。[2]
