东门社区属汕头市澄海区凤翔街道，在旧澄海县城的东门一带，辖区只有约0.06平方公里。[1]居民的土地早已被征用，不再种田，社区的集体收入主要来自出租厂房和铺面。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期这里属东社镇（1932年）和城中镇（1945年）。[2]1951年城区建立居民办事处，城郊另设东门村，把城东一带的农户并入。[2]此后它在1959年成为城关人民公社的东门生产大队，1983年改东门管理区，1986年改称东门村；1996年划入凤翔街道，2002年起为东门社区。[2]

经济[edit]

据博雅地名网，社区有364户，1156人（农业人口295人），党员21人。[1]辖区的东门工业小区由集体建了约两万平方米厂房及配套设施，做毛织服装、工艺品、塑料玩具和电子配件；另有80间沿街铺面，合约三千平方米，全部租出，租金是集体经济的主要来源。[1]2009年的工业总产值为1.86亿元，集体经济收入250万元。[1]
