历史沿革[edit]
最初是外砂王厝人来此搭寮、围地垦荒，靠捕鱼谋生；清同治年间，外砂和洲畔咸塭的人为避兵祸迁来，才渐成村落，原属外砂乡。[2]1951年称南港乡，1959年成为坝头人民公社的南港生产大队，1986年建南港村，隶坝头镇。[2]2002年坝头镇撤销，辖区划入凤翔街道，南港改称社区。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
据博雅地名网，社区共2.98平方公里，耕地三千三百多亩，2271户，10030人，有「耕三渔七」的说法，收入以渔业为主。[3]近年引进和信、上奇、童乐乐等企业；2009年，工业产值为1130万元，种养渔业产值则达6379万元。[3]
