西平村是汕头市潮阳区关埠镇的行政村，在榕江南岸，创村于元延祐元年（1314年），原名西坪村。[1]

名称与历史[edit]

村西原是河泥冲积的滩涂，起名西坪，后人口增加，滩涂开垦成田，堤围外移形成平原，才写作西平。[1]先人于元延祐元年到此建村；1956年改称西平乡，1958年公社化时为西平大队，1984年又称西平乡，1986年改村委会，1988年改管理区，1999年再定名村民委员会。[1]

据村简介，全村583户、2740人，耕地六百八十多亩，许多村民在家开手工作坊，从事织带、纺织等加工，产品销往省内外。简介未注明年份。[1]
