坳头村属广州市增城区中新镇，是镇辖的行政村。博雅地名网所载村情记其面积2.5平方千米，耕地约1300亩，户籍人口1260人（286户），下辖7个自然村、7个村民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村子位于山间的一处小坳，故名“坳头”。[1]

据村情，张、郑、郭、黄、陈等姓氏的人家在明朝陆续迁来建村。坳头村的集体组织始于1956年成立的坳头高级农业生产合作社。两年后实行人民公社化，村隶属中新公社，当时的生产大队叫坳头大队；1959年福和从中新公社划出，村随之改属福和公社。1983年公社改区，大队改称乡，1987年撤乡设村、成立村民委员会，仍归福和镇管辖，2004年福和镇并入中新镇后改属中新镇。[1]

经济与设施[edit]

村内建有400多平方米的老人活动中心；村委会至六洞社、西山社的社道（共长3000多米）已完成硬底化。[1]

岗埔围垄屋[edit]

岗埔围垄屋在坳头村的岗埔自然村；广州市政府2015年8月19日把它列入第八批市级文物保护单位。[2]

据百度百科，围垄屋堂号“盛远堂”，由陈文渠始建于清康熙五十四年（1715年），宽38.6米、深40米，占地1544平方米，青砖、泥砖、木和卵石三合土混合结构，以祠堂为中心，左右和背后环以横屋、围屋，格局为两堂一围。2002年9月，它先被登记为广州市登记保护文物单位。[3]
