东涌镇是广东省广州市南沙区东北部的建制镇，北隔沙湾水道与番禺区相望，东邻黄阁镇，西南接大岗镇，西以西樵水道同榄核镇分界。全镇辖22个行政村和东涌、鱼窝头2个社区。2006年1月原东涌镇、鱼窝头镇与灵山镇西樵村合并成现在的东涌镇，2012年12月划入南沙区。^[1]^[2]

历史沿革[edit]

此地原是浅海。据博雅地名网所引资料，南北朝时沙湾以南的灵山、鱼窝头、东涌、潭洲一带尚无居民点记载；北宋末年起，随着中原人口南迁和堤围的修筑，这片沙滩逐渐成陆。^[3]

清代这里属沙湾都，民国时期归番禺县一区，新中国成立初期设沙鼻乡。1953年镇境划成东涌、石排、石基3个乡，1957年撤区后合为东涌乡，1958年初并入鱼窝头乡，之后在灵山公社、鱼窝头公社之间几度归属。1961年7月东涌公社由鱼窝头公社析出；1984年建东涌区，1987年改设镇。^[3]

此后有两次区划变动：2006年1月25日，鱼窝头镇与灵山镇西樵村并入东涌；2012年12月1日，全镇改由南沙区管辖，不再属番禺区。^[3]

地名由来[edit]

“东涌”一名的来源，当地的说法是：清雍正年间人们在沙脊上围垦出吉祥围，吉祥围东侧有一条深水槽，按方位称为东涌，后来这里形成集市，称东涌街。^[2]

人口与经济[edit]

第七次全国人口普查（以2020年11月1日为标准时点）统计的东涌镇常住人口为17.08万人，约占南沙区的五分之一。^[1]博雅地名网另载，2024年全镇户籍人口约9.1万，外来人口约12.5万。^[4]

镇内工业与农业并重。2014年工业总产值约301.5亿元。^[1]“东涌果蔗”取得全国名特优新农产品称号，2020年8月镇又列入广东省「第二批“一村一品、一镇一业”专业镇」（果蔬类）。^[4]^[5]近年镇内开发了水乡风情游、研学游、露营观光游等线路，2024年前三季度接待游客约27.9万人次。^[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

蝴蝶楼在鱼窝头村一家糖业公司的院内，修建于20世纪30年代，属近现代重要史迹，2008年12月列入「第七批广州市文物保护单位」。^[2]南涌村的大炮楼建于1938年，同样是广州市文物保护单位。^[6]

荣誉[edit]

东涌镇东涌镇列入「第三届全国文明村镇」是在2011年12月；2014年7月，国家住房城乡建设部等七个部委将其确定为「全国重点镇」；2015年1月，镇上获选「第二批美丽宜居小镇示范」；2020年7月，全国爱卫会再次确认其为国家卫生乡镇；2023年11月，镇入围「广东“百千万工程”首批典型县镇村」，2024年4月又进了广东省乡村振兴示范镇的创建名单。^[5]
