东涌村居东涌镇的中心，地理坐标北纬22°47′、东经115°24′，紧挨市区，背靠品清湖，汕遮公路穿过村境，东涌镇人民政府设在村内。^[1]^[2]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初期叫东冲乡，东冲区管辖；人民公社时期为东涌大队，归东涌公社；1989年设东涌管理区；1999年成立东涌村委会。^[1]

村域10.8平方千米，耕地1080亩（水田655亩、旱地425亩）。共2470户，农业人口为11175人，另有2216人属非农业人口；村民分成六个小组，即东美、东东、东金、东北、东中、东大。村里种有荔枝、龙眼、黄皮等3000多亩，办有德美工业村、毛织厂和针织厂等5家规模企业。^[2]

厦深铁路汕尾站设在东涌村。东涌中心小学的五层教学楼（建筑面积5748平方米、32间教室）由旅外乡贤等筹资600多万元建成。2007年全村修建村道12条，共25公里，并建了3个小广场和六间文化室。^[2]
