地名与沿革[edit]
多数村民住在东涌街以南的南涌与濠涌两岸，村名由此而来。村内的聚居区有大南涌、濠涌、沙鼻寨、掂口尾。[1][2]村子清代筑围而成，1953年属东涌乡，1965年自东涌大队分出，1984年改乡，1987年改设村民委员会。[1][2]
大炮楼[edit]
大炮楼建于1938年，由李辅群修建，最初用作修械和护沙，故又称修械所、护沙所；新中国成立后曾作医院，2001年修葺后改为东涌博物馆。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
据村情介绍，全村面积2.8平方千米，1183户、8148人，村民主要姓梁、樊、周、麦、黄等。[2]20世纪90年代以前以种稻、甘蔗和蔬菜为主，此后转向高产高质高效农业并招商办厂，村内有内外资企业18家；东涌大桥跨骝岗水道，连通启新路。[2]
