长莫村在东涌镇西南部，北边紧靠鱼窝头村，西边与万洲村隔河为邻。它包括长沙、莫沙（分上、下）和白石三个自然村，村名取“长沙”的“长”与“莫沙”的“莫”。^[1]^[2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代中后期何、黎两姓建村，至今已有150多年。公社化的1958年，长沙与莫沙合成长莫大队；1960年随区划调整进入鱼窝头公社；1962年5月曾分作长莫、莫沙两队，翌年复合；其后1984年称乡，1987年设村民委员会。^[1]^[2]

长莫村是四面环水的大沙田区，南北长、东西窄，村内有红岗山、荔枝岗山两座小山丘，荔枝岗东面设有一处镇级安乐堂。2000年建成的长莫大桥越过万洲村，接上南沙大道。据村情介绍，全村面积4.66平方千米，1398户、3918人，有企业20家。^[2]
