荷溪村在赤坭镇的南部，距镇区约4公里，面积约4.1平方千米，下辖9个村民小组，约1623人（未注明年份）。村民先祖元代由炭步水溪村（今水口村）迁到荷塘居住，明末再迁到现址，村名由“荷”“溪”二字合成。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年荷溪高级社改为荷溪大队；1964年同横沙、荷塘合为横沙乡，十年后（1974年）分出，仍名荷溪，改称荷溪村委会，驻地在下寸坎。1987年3月起归赤坭镇人民政府管辖。[1]
经济[edit]
集体收入来自厂房出租和农田承包，农业种植水稻、花生，养殖四大家鱼和瘦肉型猪。[1]
