红光村是万安镇的镇中心区村，村名取“红太阳光芒万丈”之意。[1]

村名与沿革[edit]

村名属“大跃进”时期的产物，人民公社化年代口号响亮，故有此名。[1]

清代属溪口社，民国初属万安社，此后归溪口乡、溪口镇管辖；解放初为万安区溪口乡的一部分。[1]

1958年人民公社化时，由几个自然村合并成立大队，名为红光大队。1984年起归万安乡管辖，村级组织称村委会；1995年划归万安镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，村庄经福建省爱卫办命名，获“2021年福建省卫生村”称号。[1]
