村名由来：解放初期这里属大柘梅东乡，位置在梅东之南、大柘河下游，依次序取名梅二。[1]
建制沿革，由近及远：1999年4月起称村民委员会至今；1989年称梅二管理区；1987年称梅二村民委员会；1983年为梅二（小）乡；1958年为梅二生产大队；1949年称梅二乡。[1]
经济[edit]
主要经济作物有脐橙、金柚、砂糖桔、椪柑和化州桔。[1]
荣誉：2019年9月进入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
