地名与沿革[edit]
村里早先有一个大水潭，地势又低，因称下潭。[2] 村情材料载，明洪武年间，张氏、罗氏的祖先先后来此立庄。[3] 1955至1957年办下潭高级社，1958年起为下潭大队，历时到1984年，1985年称下潭管理区，1999年定为下潭村委会。[3]
概况与荣誉[edit]
村分18个村民小组，在册576户、3206人，总面积4.22平方千米，耕地1946亩，种水稻，上一年农村经济总收入1837万元。[1] 2017年10月获第一批广东省卫生村称号，2023年2月获2022年度五华县文明村镇称号。[1]
