地名与沿革[edit]
村名是为纪念新中国建立、民主国家成立而取。[2] 新中国成立之初称新民乡，1958年公社化时设新民大队，1983年政社分设，改为乡政府，1989年起称新民管理区，1999年再改设新民村委会。[3]
概况与荣誉[edit]
村分40个村民小组，在册780户、3826人，总面积6.39平方千米，耕地1654亩，种水稻，上一年农村经济总收入2078万元；2010年村集体种油茶446亩，以壮大集体经济。[1] 2019年9月，村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单，2023年2月获2022年度五华县文明村镇称号。[1]
