历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，村子从前四周是一大片菜园，故名大园。[1]
解放前归东和乡管辖，解放后属东海公社，1962年划归港口渔业工委直管，1982年称大园乡，1987年3月据惠东府函〔1987〕23号批复定名大园村委会，1989年起设管理区，1999年又改设村委会。[1]
文化[edit]
2019年9月，大园村被列为「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」。[1]
