村名由来：据查，建村之初多数村民从广东梅州迁来定居，因而取名梅州围。^[1]

清代归博罗县苏州巡检司辖；民国时属第六区文化乡；新中国成立后编入三区獭子乡。1958年10月，公庄人民公社下设梅州围大队；公庄区时期（1983年11月起）称梅州围乡；1986年1月撤区建镇后，成为公庄镇梅州围管理区；至1999年3月，改称梅州围村民委员会。^[1]
