新沙村是新会区睦洲镇北部的行政村，北与江海区相邻，东隔西江与大鳌镇相望，有21个村民小组、965户、3997人，另有外来人口4000多人。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
景泰元年（1450年）前后，这里围垦成田，外海陈姓族人买地后雇农民代为耕种，何、黄、梁、叶等姓分几处住下，村落渐成，分称新沙、新丰。1950年划分出新沙、南安、新丰三个居民点，总称仍叫新沙。[1]民国时属外海乡，建国初期与东环、牛牯臀合编为幸福乡，1952年改隶第九区、称新沙乡；人民公社时期的新沙管理区下，设有东一、西一、南安、东环、牛古田等大队。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村民在沙脊上搭寮定居，立村时间比周边其他村落晚，故名新沙。[2]
经济[edit]
全村总面积6318亩，其中工业园2900亩、耕地3418亩；收入主要靠农田和鱼塘承包。[1]
